Monday Impressions of GDCE (Video-Article)
From: Lena Eierhoff • 18. Aug 2009 • Categories: GDC Europe, Top StoryCologne, Congress Center East – the floors of GDC Europe come to live at around 9am. People check in, meet business partners or start their day by visiting a panel or two. Nice ladies hand out sponsored drinks to the visitors. The weather is great and seems to greet all the game industry insiders from all over the world with a good amount of sunlight on the terrace.
Several lectures and panels awaited the attendees on this first GDCE day, whereas the keynotes were of special interest for many. Cevat Cerli, co-founder of Crytek, was the first to present his track keynote, which lured readers into the impressive Congress-Saal. He spoke to the audience of “The Future of Gaming Graphics” since Crytek’s games are known for their immersive graphics.
The day progressed and in the afternoon Matias Myllyrinne, managing director Remedy, held his keynote on “From May Payne to Alan Wake: Creating Intellectual Properties the Remedy Way”, which was able to fill the room and received extraordinary attention.
Both keynotes were filmed by the Two Pi Team video crew and will be published at Wheel of Games as soon as possible. Several speakers kindly volunteered to voice their opinions on the conference and the general situation of the games industry in our exclusive video interviews.
Programming, Marketing, Art, Game Design, Management – there was a panel for everybody.
Some of them were also filmed by our team and will be available here shortly. But now enjoy the small film which shall give you a first impression of this business event here in Cologne.
